Blow Out the Blog Friday - Sheila's Been Busy!

So the only excuse we have for not posting more often and keeping the tradition of Blow Out the Blog Friday alive is that we've been incredibly busy lately. But who hasn't been busy...right?

I mean, we really aren't any busier than say...Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, who spoke at the memorial service for Michael Jackson on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Sheila has been EXTREMELY busy drafting and introducing HR 600, "Honoring an American legend and musical icon." The resolution states, "Whereas Michael Jackson was not only an accomplished recording and performing artist, he was a noted humanitarian."

Thank goodness there are dedicated people like Sheila in Washington, who, regardless of her busy schedule, still finds the time to make sure important issues like Michael Jackson's legacy are addressed on a federal level. I mean, with all the economic worries our country currently faces, not to mention the many questionable acts taking place within her own ranks of Congress, Sheila kept her priorities straight and went right to work on legislation that will certainly make a huge difference in how this country functions in the coming years.

Her constituents should be really proud of her. They should be so grateful that they elected someone who takes her job so seriously. They should be thankful that she is so concerned with the plight of those who currently pay her salary. I am absolutely positive that each and every person who voted for her was at home watching that funeral and thinking, "You know...someone needs to draft a resolution so that Michael is never forgotten. Someone needs to propose that he be recognized as an official US icon. I'm gonna call my Representative and insist they honor Michael properly! Nevermind that I have no job. Never mind that my house is in foreclosure...I want Sheila to do the right thing and make this happen. And by gosh, I will tell her that I WILL NOT vote for her again if she refuses. Yeah. This is important, dammit. I'm callin' her right now!"

I'm sure they were all flooding her office with calls about bringing this important piece of legislation to the floor. I'm pretty confident about that. Otherwise, why would a supposedly intelligent person who went to work as a public servant to help the people she represents decide that her time would be best spent drafting legislation to make Michael a national hero? It had to be because her constituents made their wishes clear. The same constituents who are losing their homes to foreclosure and losing their jobs by the thousands. The people who should be blowing out the damn phones to Sheila's office right now letting her know she should quit pissing away her time on Michael legislation and start working on helping them find work and a safe place to live and a way to pay their energy bills if the Cap and Trade she voted for goes through. And by help I don't mean giving people welfare to pay their bills. I mean she needs to start pushing legislation that will get government out of the way so business can thrive and create new jobs. Sheila needs to quit voting for legislation that take more of the little bit of money her constituents still have left in their pockets. THAT kind of help!

But her constituents taking the time to hold her accountable? Well, that would be insensitive at such a sad time in our country's history. Cause, well...you know...Michael Jackson just died. Of course they couldn't bother her with such trivial life matters as housing and the economy...that would be rude and insensitive. And probably unAmerican.

This woman never ceases to amaze me. Wonder why I hadn't heard this anywhere. I did hear something about somebody introducing something and that Nancy Pelosi shot it down immediately, but I didn't hear it was SHEILA!!!!
